Ever been annoyed by a low battery? Have you ever missed an important call or been stuck somewhere because your smartphone was out of juice? Everyone dreams of a phone that will never run out of battery power and due to the work of some great minds, today there may be a solution. Soon, there will be many new alternatives to the basic wall and car chargers in use today. Here are three innovative battery charging solutions that may just revolutionize your devices.
Though the Voltmaker may look like a flashlight, it is much more than that. Its first function is as an extra battery that you can carry with you. Just plug it into any standard USB-based computer or wall charger and it will store enough energy to fully charge most popular smartphones. The real magic starts when both your device and the Voltmaker are out of electricity. That’s when you can flip out an attached, weighted arm, give the device a few shakes of your wrist, and activate an internal generator that can give you the juice you need to make that important phone call or listen to that song you just had to hear.
The second invention already exists but not in enough locations yet: the charging kiosk. You may have seen them in airports, malls, ballparks or other heavily trafficked locations, but the goal of ChargeAll is to offer wireless charging in convenience stores, fast food restaurants and coffee shops across the country. The kiosk has five individual, lockable charging bays where most any mobile device, from tablets to smartphones to gaming handhelds can be powered up. Depending on the kiosk owner’s preference, users may have to pay $1-5 per charge, take part in a survey, or watch a streaming video ad, though all are a small price to pay when in need of a charge.
This next product should make you very happy – you won’t have to do anything more than go about your daily activities! Just place the SolePower insole into any pair of shoes and strap the battery pack around your ankle and as you walk, your energy will be used to charge SolePower. Then when you run out of battery, just plug into the battery pack and charge your phone. Though this product is still in development – the Kickstarter campaign only ended in July and the current model requires a bit too much walking to be practical – it’s a convenient and easy way to ensure you’ll never lose power when you need it most. Add to it the fact that walking more is never a bad thing, and you have a recipe for success.
All these new inventions will allow you to get that little bit of extra battery power when you really need it. Everyone knows, knowledge is real power, so to hear more about great tech stories every week, make sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn.
