There is no team like the Golden State Warriors, and no fan base quite like the #DubNation. If this year’s parade is any indication, the Warriors hype is here to stay.

Hundreds of thousands of fans celebrated in downtown Oakland today. In fact, BART may reach its all-time ridership record with the turnout of today’s parade. One fan went as far as flying 10,300 miles to support the Warriors, according to a parade attendee interview by the Mercury News.
While we can’t all be warriors (or be at the parade, for that matter), we wanted to plug our favorite NBA team and show our Warriors Spirit, as well as highlight some key characteristics that the Warriors exemplify – characteristics that any business can model for success. From a business perspective, here are some things that the 2017 NBA Championship team does well (which your business should aspire to do as well – regardless of industry):
Last year Business Insider published an article speaking to how the Warriors built the best team in the NBA. With the addition of Kevin Durant this year, the team was simply unstoppable. In fact, many analysts are calling the 2017 Warriors the best NBA team of all time.
Fans and Ambassadors
The Golden State Warriors organization does a brilliant job of marketing the team using social platforms and hashtags, apparel, events, etc. to build a unified fan base. The Golden State Warriors official website offers its fans in-depth information on the team in addition to ways that fans can stay connected (including the “Warriors Insider” newsletter, a season ticket Priority Waitlist, contests, social promotions, news, and more).
The Warriors Community Foundation is an organization that supports education and youth development to promote thriving students, schools and communities.
Setting records in three consecutive years of regular and postseason play, the Warriors have come to define a team that is consistent. In fact, their .941 winning percentage this postseason is the best in NBA history.
Although the Warriors team is jam-packed with all-stars, no single individual is “bigger” than the team. Unlike the Cleveland Cavaliers (who have a clear “star” player with subordinates), the Warriors share a selfless attitude and undying willingness to work together (and make sacrifices) for the betterment of the team.
Preparation & Leadership
The team that’s well prepared is hard to prepare for. The Warriors’ coaching staff, led by Steve Kerr, is arguably the most concise and strategic in NBA history. Steve does an impeccable job at motivating his team, making adjustments to strategy, and remaining cool, calm, collected and approachable. The Warriors players all love playing for Kerr, and would be lesser champions without his gift for joy.
Here’s to an amazing 2017 season as well as a 4th consecutive playoff appearance in 2018! Go Warriors!
