When preparing a marketing plan for the coming year, every company will have to decide where to put their efforts. Email campaigns still get good returns while social media platforms are definitely tools that need to be added to the mix.
It’s not easy to decide which one will get the most attention or how to have them work together to achieve the best outcome. There are many ways to coordinate both actions: using a “share” button in your email campaigns, promoting email subscription through social channels, or giving your followers a good reason to share your content (Can you say discounts?).
When combining email with social media marketing, use all your available data. Your activity as well as that of your social media fans can generate quite a large amount of insightful data that can be used when putting together an email campaign. A clear idea of your fans’ behaviors is a great way to increase the impact of your next message.
Alternatively, add a social touch to your email outreach. Let your recipients know what is happening within your brand’s social space. Including tweets or Facebook comments in your emails will give recognition to readers who are already active and may even trigger the passive ones to participate too.
Social media and email may compete for your marketing time and budget, but there’s no reason their friendly rivalry can’t blossom into success for both.
