Augmented and Virtual Reality in the Workplace

For a company to remain competitive in an ever changing business landscape, it is pertinent to be adaptable and innovative to provide employees with the most efficient training and information.

Augmented reality in the workplace is enhancing one’s perception of the world by adding computer generated images to their real-world environments that could not be created otherwise. Virtual reality is being used to change the perception of the world through the use of goggles that block out physical surroundings, giving employees a view into an alternate environment or situation. Virtual reality takes the user and puts their presence somewhere else while augmented reality doesn’t change reality, it adds something to it.

TIME AND COST EFFICIENCY

VR and AR is creating a more interactive workplace. Instead of reading an excel spreadsheet, you can visualize the information in a way that is easier to grasp creating a quicker, more efficient understanding. For manufacturers and engineers, AR and VR eliminates the need for physical prototypes and allows team members to expand their creativity without the additional costs.

COHESIVE TEAMWORK

Augmented reality and virtual reality can bring your remote teams together with your in-house team for projects in the most realistic way possible taking global communication to a new level. The increased collaboration of team members can enhance creativity and foster an easier exchange of ideas and design.

ENHANCED TRAINING

There is now the ability to train a new hire in real life scenarios without the costs and risks of putting that person in the actual situation. Potentially dangerous/hazardous scenarios can be dealt with through AR or VR so employers can be exponentially more prepared if the situation were to occur on the job.

THE FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY

With the inevitability of augmented and virtual reality emerging as the new computing platform and becoming more accessible across the board, companies should take note. Implementing AR or VR now can propel your company ahead of competitors.
