4 Tips for Starting an Online Advertising Campaign

Every company wants to improve its visibility online, whether it’s by creating or updating their website, optimizing their content for search engines or through some online advertising. Thinking about it is one thing; actually doing it is another animal entirely.

Here are a few tips to help stake a claim to your corner of the web and get the best results from online advertising campaigns.

1) Do Your Research. Get as much information as you can about the ad network and format you plan to buy. Your advertising must meet the platform’s specifications in order to run and it’s important to know what sites and demographics are covered by the network.

2) Experiment. Start out with small budgets and different messages to compare how different campaigns perform. The more ads you can test, the better your chances of finding one that really resonates with audiences.

3) Be Realistic. Don’t set your expectations too high at first. Many of your early efforts will not yield fruit until you have a better understanding of what you’re doing and have discovered what works best.

4) Don’t Be a Control Freak. Through the platform’s network, your ad will most likely be placed on a wide range of sites and in different locations on any given web page. The reports you get may not be as detailed as you’d like, but they still contain plenty of information to make your next campaign more successful than ever.
