4 Tips for Driving Website Traffic

The old adage says “if you build it, they will come” (if the 1989 film Field of Dreams from which it was taken can be considered old).

Yet with modern website design, this has become more of a hope than a strategic move. Faced with ever fiercer competition, you not only must create a stylish, modern website that works as well on smartphones as it does on tablets, laptops and desktops, you now must achieve market differentiation and provide unique, inspiring content to boot.

So how can you make your website stand out from the crowd and get the traction you need?

Here are ARTÉMIA’s top 4 tips for driving website traffic:

  • 1. Nail your SEO strategy.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is essentially a website writer’s friend. It’s basically a structured reminder to keep your audience front and center when creating content. What matters to them? What issues are they trying to resolve? Therefore, what words would they plug into a search engine to find a company that can help them? Use a third party to check your content and make sure it’s targeting your most critical keywords.

  • 2. Blog consistently.

Adding content to your site on a regular basis not only provides a reason for people to keep coming back, it also creates shareable content that helps you grow. Posting links to company blogs on social media helps reach people who may not normally visit your website and provides a quick, “one-click” way to take them there.

  • 3. Guest blog / invite guest bloggers.

Sharing best practices that go beyond in-house expertise is a great way of extending value to your audience. For example, if you operate within strong business communities and networks such as WBENC, ISO or company sustainability initiatives (as ARTÉMIA does), it’s a positive way of illuminating the achievements of others while passing on valuable and shareable advice.

  • 4. Write great headlines.

Ask yourself, out of all the non-personal, non-family or friends emails you’ve received over the past few days, how many have you actually opened? We’re all battling to keep our email inboxes under control, so why spend time opening emails that don’t offer added value? Make sure your website page and blog headlines deliver on their promises – and, of course, make sure the content is engaging and relevant.
