The Future Of Design in Business

In today’s digital age where the rapid pace of change is profound, companies are learning how important it is to adapt to changing trends. In working with technology clients for the past two decades, we have witnessed first hand how technology and design advancements have changed the way businesses operate and engage with customers. These design concepts and trends are paving the way for the future of business.

Marketing and advertising will align with the design strategy. With the emergence of new technology and the culture changing so rapidly, the old methods of creating a product years before the execution of selling it are becoming outdated. Design, engineering and marketing execution must be consistently working together to adhere to the evolution of the market, lest a business losing its contemporary relevancy in the market.

Design is being held at the same level as decision making. In a society that is engrossed in all things digital, from our smartphones to our iPads, people have very little patience for bad design. Users want an easy and accessible digital experience and as consumers we are subconsciously drawn towards those qualities. Take Apple for example: a product led by design, followed by technology innovation. Steve Jobs, the founder and CEO considered himself an artist, rather than an engineer and many believe that is why he became so successful.

In such a rapidly evolving technology culture, the rise of self – taught designers will pass those bred from a university setting. Real-time learning is becoming more and more accessible and mutually exclusive career paths that were previously planned out are now meshing together to create something completely new. As market needs change, professionals are learning how to combine learned skills with newfound knowledge to create hybrid-careers that integrate design among a range of business and engineering backgrounds.
