3 Reasons to Post More Photos on Social Media

If content is king, then photos are the members of his court. Pictures still receive the most engagement in most social media platforms. Most people are visual learners, and pictures are an effective medium in delivering a message across. According to a recent Trends Report, “Most people — between 65 and 85 percent — also describe themselves as ‘visual learners,’ forming meaning and organizing thoughts based on what they see more so than what they read.” It is no wonder than standalone photo sharing platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest gain millions of engaged users. Social media is fast, dynamic, and always flowing with the latest content. Here 3 Reasons to Post More Photos on Social Media.

  1. Adding a photo URL to your tweet can boost Retweets by an impressive 35% – Twitter’s data scientist Douglas Mason analyzed the content of over 2 million Tweets sent by thousands of verified users over the course of one month and found that photos did in fact boost Retweets.
  2. Photos receive an 87% interaction rate on Facebook – According to an April 8th, 2014 blog from Socialbakers.com, Facebook posts with photos received an 87% interaction rate. This far outpaced links, videos, and albums, which only received 4% and 3% on average.
  3. Pictures allow you to be unique – Quotes and statistics can be reused and filtered down from its source but photos gives your followers a sneak peak with your product offerings or behind the scenes events. Take for example one of our Tweets during the #SmallBizSelfie week; we were able to showcase a few of our company’s awards while giving it a unique character to our audience.

Photos to include in your campaigns can be from a wide array of sources. They could be of your latest product, team or group photo, behind the scenes event, or an Infographic. Are you ready to receive more likes and followers? Start including more images in your social media arsenal and watch the engagement rise. For more social media marketing tips, follow us on Twitter! We’ll be sure to like your Twitpics and Retweet them as well!
