Welcome to 2017! What an exciting year we think it will be. From new challenges and opportunities to continued technological advances, I feel that this year will be one our strongest ever. In late 2016 we reconfirmed our commitment to sustainability by becoming recertified to both the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and to the San Francisco Green Business Program. We feel that these programs do an excellent job of allowing a business to measure and monitor its impact on the environment while also providing pathways to continual improvement. If you’ve thought about trying to improve the sustainability of your company but have been at a loss as to how to get started, we can’t recommend these programs enough. Should you have any questions about them, please don’t hesitate to ask us.
Finally, we have continued our dedication to working with and assisting diverse businesses of all types in 2017. I have taken on a role with WBENC, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, as 2nd Vice Chair of the Forum Leadership Government Committee. Additionally, I have elected to serve as the Chair of the Small Business Leadership Forum of QuEST Forum, the leading telecommunications industry association, focused on improving small business participation and helping the Forum provide more meaningful value to its smaller members. In my regular column for MBE Magazine I hope to continue to share ways to increase measurable sustainability efforts among SMEs. Do you happen to read it? I’d love to hear any feedback you may have.

Barbara Wichmann, CEO and founder of ARTÉMIA Communications, Inc., an award-winning, global, full-service communications agency serving Fortune 100/500 companies in the utilities, technology, financial services and healthcare sectors as well as high-growth startups and international government agencies. As an industry-leading communications expert she oversees the company’s strategic development and is instrumental in representing the agency’s interests in the area of innovation, service delivery and partnership development. In her role of senior strategist with over 25 years of experience, she has successfully developed countless corporate diversity & inclusion initiatives, corporate communications as well as diversity outreach programs. Ms. Wichmann also led the adoption of three quality management systems, resulting in a triple ISO certification (14001, 9001 & TL9000). In January of 2017 year she was elected as the QuEST Forum Small Business Leadership Chair. Her company is a certified Women Owned Enterprise(WBE) and she currently serves on the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council’s (WBENC) Leadership Forum.
Ms. Wichmann earned her bachelor’s degree in the Netherlands, her master’s degree in the United States. She is 2010 graduate of UCLA’s Anderson School of Management MDE Training, a 2011 graduate of the WBENC-Tuck Executive Training program at Dartmouth and the CVS Executive Training at RWU in 2015.
